se-r Digest, Vol 21, Issue 15

After playing with the S13 for quite a long time - and successively owning
three different Classic SE-Rs, all black, AND a '93.5 G20, I couldn't find
any more around here that satisfied me. I needed a four-door daily and
jumped ship to Mazda.

Near the birth of my first child, the Silvia went in favor of a 1997 BMW M3
(airbags, ABS, etc), and the Mazda (Protégé) went in favor of my current
daily, a 2000 Subaru Outback wagon. True to form, I lowered it and did a
few other things. Most recently my daughter is nearing 4 years old and a
second kid is looming, so I ditched the M3 (it was a coupe) in favor of an
E39 M5 for a toy.

I miss the SE-R most of all. If I had the space, I'd have one - but I can't
make it work for daily/family duties any more :( I'd love to do a 4-door
SE-R conversion on a B13 Sentra and selling the E39 would easily make it
possible, but I doubt the wife would go back ;)

Looking back you'd never know I was an avid Nissan guy...

I currently own a '05 Toyota Rav 4, '10 Toyota Sequoia, and I still have my
'07 G35x with a pathetic 18,887 kms on it.

I mostly drive a 2013 Pathfinder to ferry the children to and from daycare.
My wife has a 99 G20 nearing 200k a bit leaky and rusty. Up until last
year I was driving a 2002 SE-R Spec V, which Cody, who hit the wall in his
240 at Watkins Glen over the weekend, now owns.

2001 Subaru Outback stick shift with 251k miles but looks like it has 90k
2014 Ford Focus Electric (wife's commuter) - tons of torque!

I still daily drive my '92 SE-R. The car should hit 300k this month but the
engine has 200k and is thankfully still healthy. Body is showing a bit of
surface rust now so I will need to address that this year. God willing I'll
have this one forever but I do need to eventually get something bigger as a
daily driver for myself soon.

I got my wife a 2006 Land Rover LR3 which is an amazing vehicle. Gas
mileage is bad but to be expected for a 5500lb vehicle.

Before the LR3 we had a 99 Volvo S80 which gave 300k of mostly faithful
service.
I had a 93 Range Rover I restored a few years ago but sold it when we moved
to MD from GA.

More than the cars long gone I miss my two wheeled Yamahas and Ducatis I'be
had. Lately have been having an itch to ride again but can't bring myself
to pull the trigger on another moto. To fill the void I started mountain
biking again and am putting some miles on my Cannondale.

I went to a 2005 Evo 8. Fun, but $$$ to operate. Then bought the 2005 S2000
with 36k miles for $17 back in 2008. Daily drove it for 3 years, but when I
went more towards track-car mode being a MotoIQ project car and all, I
picked up a 2006 G35 sedan for the DD with 20k miles or so on it. Had that
for a year and a half or so, but driving around LA leaved no place to
exploit the 300hp and paying for premium gas was puttind a dent in my
wallet. So traded that in and picked up a 2012 Lexus CT200h which takes
regular and gets 44mpg vs. 20mpg I got in the G. I'm saving about $125 a
month in gas.

Oh, I've also had my 2005 Honda CBR 600RR which I bought used with 1k miles
on it. I've been riding very little the past couple years though and only
have 17k on the clock. I actually put more miles on the bicycle than the
motorcycle.

So the CT200h is the DD, S2k is the project car (and a stock 2005 S2k with
70k-90k miles still goes for $17k which is what I bought it for 5-6 years
ago!), CBR 600RR for the occassional romp, and the road bicycle
currently?geting more miles than the CBR and S2k combined.
