When that happened to me it was a marginal belt... with the a/c on the belt would slip and the fans didn't have enough juice to keep the car cool. You should be able to smell a slipping belt, especially if you go outside and sniff around. You will smell it before you hear it, in some circumstances the flat belts don't squeal. Jon Davis
