Must be SA96 Syndrome then. I've done literally hundreds of compression
tests over the years and it makes absolutely no difference with the
throttle open or closed.

Again, remember that your engine starts just fine with your foot off the
gas.

Have a turbo and a boost gauge? Watch vacuum while cranking with the
throttle open and closed. You'll see.
