Fmax vs. local fab: Am I nuts?

This wasn't what your email was about, but DON'T DO THIS. There is a
common DSM site that I will call ricetalk.com where they all came up
with a 3" ABS plastic intake for their cars. Well, ABS cannot take heat
above 180F for any extended period of times. Know what happens when it
gets too hot? It gets brittle. Know what happens then? Chunks of plastic
break off. Anybody want to guess what happens when compressor blades
spinning at tens of thousands of RPM's get hit by chunks of ABS plastic?
It's not pretty.

ABS (and PVC) belong at home depot, not on your car.
